Lotus Bank
Novi, MI
Oakland County
Lotus Bank is a new branch bank that is larger than average because it serves as this new bank's main office as well. The project, located in Novi's central business district, was subject to strict planning and zoning controls and was meant to harmonize with its environment while making a positive image statement for the organization.
A contemporary arrangement of brick and stone comprises the exterior, with bowed colonnade-like accents on the major facades. Halo-lit identification signage is integrated into the design and the building is capped with a cornice which gives a classic sensibility to the modern flavor of the building.
Inside, a racetrack retail banking layout, leading to major customer services, is defined by extensive millwork and use of rich materials - two-toned wood arches, glass tile, floor mosaics and even bronze accents in the form of the bank's eponymous lotus flower. The color palette chosen for the bank is an eye-pleasing neutral one, harmonizing with the tones of wood, and helping the interior attain the same calm, classic sense which characterizes the building as a whole.
